Interesting until you read the article...
It's a little bit strange to see that Mecp2-/y (null males) living under standard conditions continue to gain weight and have an unexpected high survival rate...Maybe this is due to the mixed genetic background 129/SImJ instead of the C57Bl6 background of the Bird mouse (Guy et al., 2001) and can confound the results. This means that the authors assessed the impact of an enriched environment on mice that not enough recapitulate the cardinal features of a Mecp2-deficiency...Thus, it would be tricky to consider this work for any translational approaches.
